About 'login live hotmail'|Windows Live Mail Invites
Since the introduction of Web 2.0, Social Networking has turned into one of the hottest trends for people who share similar interests to connect over the internet. Already dominated and popular with high school and college students, Social Networking is now finding a new market...tweens. New Social Networking web site especially for the 8 to 12 year old age group are being introduced online weekly. Some of the more popular Tween Social Networking sites are: Allykatzz, Imbee, Stardoll, and Whyville. Tween Social Networking can be a thrilling adventure and wonderful learning experience for the youngsters involved. The opportunity to share, learn and compare with another individual of similar age and interest about the differences in their daily environments can be very enlightening. But there are a number of dangers that are also present. You as the Tween Social Networker's parent should discuss and educate your child of these dangers and establish rules and guidelines for them to follow when participating in these forums. Here are some of the things you may want to talk about; 1. You as the parent must establish some type of communication guideline, so that your children are assured that they can always come to you to discuss questions and possible mess ups concerning their online activities. The topic will be discussed first without out you jumping into anger mode. You must agree to totally listen before evaluating. This type of open communication channel is very important. You will not be there looking over the child's shoulders, so maintaining an open communication channel will allow you to maintain open discussions about their online activities without their fear of reprisal. 2. The child should not give out any personal information about themselves nor the family while online. No last name, mom and dad's name, home address, telephone number, school name, personal email addresses, credit card information not even the town in which they live. These things are sacred and must never be shared. 3. If the child does establish what they feel to be a trusting relationship and wish to share some personal information it must be agreed that you, the parent, must communicate with the other child's parent first. Establish a throw away email address at Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail, etc. that can be used as the initial contact medium to make sure that the other parent is also in agreement. 4. The child must never agree to rendezvous with anyone they meet online. Any request by your child's online friend to establish a rendezvous must be brought to your attention immediately. Your child is also never to ask an online acquaintance to rendezvous with them. 5. The child should never agree to a "you will not tell your parents" request. Sometimes one online participant will do or say something and ask your child not to tell you the parent about it. This is a no-no. Make sure your lines of communication with your child are wide open and encourage them to let you know whenever this happens. 6. Just as you do not want your child to physically go off with strangers, encourage them not to go with strangers into private chat rooms. Until your child knows they have a trusting relationship with their online companion this should be avoided. In private chat rooms there are fewer eyes watching, thus the increased potential for mischievous shenanigans. 7. Most Tween Social Networking sites have emergency buttons for immediate disconnect and reporting of harmful scary discussion and stalking. Make sure your children are aware of their sites emergency button setup and how to use them. 8. The Tween Social Networker must be thoroughly familiar with all of the sites rules and regulations and must adhere to them. Read them over with your child and discuss them. Make sure they understand what are the sites do's and don'ts. 9. Never share your login information with anyone. Not even your best friend. That information is your private access to the Tween Social Networking site. If anyone use your login information to access the site they become you. If they do anything wrong, break any of the sites rules, be disrespectful to someone, or cause any problems it is you that will be credited with these wrong doings. Your login information (your user name and password) are exclusively for you and only you. Make sure your child understands the importance of not sharing this information. 10. Be respectful of the Tween Social Networking community and its members. Do not use swear words, harass, annoy, or stalk other members. Do not write things that are mean, sexually suggestive or racist. People have feelings and doing these things could hurt and/or frighten them. Treat your online acquaintances the same way you would treat your classmates and neighbors. Treat them the same way you would like to be treated. A Tween Social Networking site is a community made up of people, just like where you live. Some of the people are nice and friendly. Some of the people are mean and nasty. It is important for your child to recognize which people are which and know what protective measures to take, as they do in their physical community. The Tween Social Networking is designed to be a fun, entertaining, and educational experience. Help your child learn about the community they are a part of so that they learn and enjoy themselves. |
